With reference to Colonisl office letter of the 13th July ko. 54058/4/hl, I am directed by Viscount Cranborne to enclose a copy of a telegram from the High Commissioner in Australis reporting that a claim for £15,024. &. 5 Australian has been received from the Commonwealth Treasury in respect of expenditure incurred in

connection with Hong Kong evacuees during the month of April, 1942.

1 am to request that you will be good enough to pay the sterling equivalent of this sum from Hong kong funds in your hands, to the Commonwealth High Commissioner in London.
